The versatile Imperial Berkey system is the ideal system for use with small to medium sized groups, at home, churches, hospitals orphanages, for outdoor activities or during unexpected emergencies.

This powerful system purifies both treated water and untreated raw water from such sources as remote lakes, streams, stagnant ponds and water supplies in foreign countries, where regulations may be substandard at best. Perfect for outdoor activities and a must in hostile environments where electricity, water pressure or treated water may not be available.

The Imperial Berkey system removes pathogenic bacteria, cysts and parasites entirely and extracts harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, VOCs, organic solvents, radon 222 and trihalomethanes. It also reduces nitrates, nitrites and unhealthy minerals such as lead and mercury. This system is so powerful it can remove red food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other system can duplicate this performance.

Constructed of highly polished 304 stainless steel, the system comes complete with two Black Berkey purification elements and utilizes the latest technological advances. This system has a storage capacity of about 4.5 gallons (17 liters) and when in use it stands 25.75" in height with a diameter of 10". The upper chamber nests within the lower chamber for transport and stands only 17" in height.

Configured with two Black Berkey purification elements the system will purify up to 5.5 Gallons (20.8 liters) per hour*. This system can be expanded to use up to six purification elements and is capable of purifying up to 16.5 Gallons (62.5 liters) per hour*.

*Lifetime warranty applies to stainless steel tanks, lid, lid knob, plugs, and plastic spigot. Lifetime warranty does not cover any filters nor any accidental damage. Black Berkey filters have a 2 year pro-rated warranty.

Black Berkey Purification Elements

Black Berkey Purification Elements are more powerful than any other gravity filter element currently available. In fact, we tested the Black Berkey purification elements with more than 10,000 times the concentration of pathogens per liter than is required by standard test protocol. This concentration of pathogens is so great that the post filtered water should be expected to contain 100,000 or more pathogens per liter (99.99% reduction - the requirement for pathogenic removal). Incredibly the purification elements removed 100%. Absolutely no pathogens were cultured from the effluent or were able to be detected, even under an electron microscope, setting a new standard in water purification.

Black Berkey purification elements are so powerful, they can remove food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other filtration element can duplicate this performance.

No need for expensive disposable filters. Black Berkey purification elements are re-cleanable. When the flow rate decreases simply brush the Black Berkey purification elements with a ScotchBrite pad under running water, reinstall and your system is again ready to purify water. Each durable and efficient purification element will last for up to 3,000 gallons (6,000 gallons per set of two) and provide years of efficient water purification. What's more, the unique Black Berkey purification elements are self-sterilizing.

The powerful Black Berkey purification elements also remove or reduce pathogenic cysts, parasites, harmful or unwanted chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides, VOCs, detergents, organic solvents, trihalomethanes, cloudiness, silt, sediment, nitrates, nitrites, heavy metals, foul tastes and odors, yet they leave in the healthful and beneficial minerals that your body needs.

    Love this filter!

Our family drinks so much more water now. I like that I'm not buying bottled water anymore and that I'm getting great tasting water. Should have bought this sooner.

I love the simplicity of this product. It is a great product for every-day use, and also serves as a back-up fresh water supply in the event of a situation where water and/or electricity is not available for an extended period of time. Here's to healthy 'drinking'!

    The Berkey is awesome !!

It would be 5 stars but I think there should be a place to see the water level. Other than that, I have no complaints. It's awesome! We love drinking our Berkey water.

    Yum, Yum, Yum

Yum, Yum, Yum. Water tastes like it comes from a mountain stream.

One minor improvement in the day to day operation of the Berkey would be to have gallon markers on the inside of the bottom chamber of the Berkey. Then when you are trying to gauge how much water you need to put in the upper chamber you could be a little more precise. Of course, ideally there would be a glass tube window like electric kettles have so you could see precisely but I know this would up the cost of the Berkey unnecessarily.

GetBerkey Reply: We do offer a water level spigot for all Berkey systems. They can be found under the Berkey Accessories category.
