The versatile Royal Berkey system is the ideal system for use at home with large families, travel, outdoor activities or during unexpected emergencies.
This powerful system purifies both treated water and untreated raw water from such sources as remote lakes, streams, stagnant ponds and water supplies in foreign countries, where regulations may be substandard at best. Perfect for outdoor activities and a must in hostile environments where electricity, water pressure or treated water may not be available.
The Royal Berkey system removes pathogenic bacteria, cysts and parasites entirely and extracts harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, VOCs, organic solvents, radon 222 and trihalomethanes. It also reduces nitrates, nitrites and unhealthy minerals such as lead and mercury. This system is so powerful it can remove food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other system can duplicate this performance.
Constructed of highly polished 304 stainless steel, the system comes complete with 4 purification elements and utilizes the latest technological advances. This system has a storage capacity of about 3.25 gallons (12.3 liters) and when in use it stands 23" in height with a diameter of 9.5". The upper chamber nests within the lower chamber for transport and stands only 15 1/4" in height.
Configured with two Black Berkey purification elements the system will purify up to 4 Gallons (15.1 liters) per hour*. This system can be expanded to use four purification elements and is capable of purifying up to 8 Gallons (30.3 liters) per hour*.
Black Berkey Purification Elements
Black Berkey Purification Elements are more powerful than any other gravity filter element currently available. In fact, we tested the Black Berkey purification elements with more than 10,000 times the concentration of pathogens per liter than is required by standard test protocol. This concentration of pathogens is so great that the post filtered water should be expected to contain 100,000 or more pathogens per liter (99.99% reduction - the requirement for pathogenic removal). Incredibly the purification elements removed 100%. Absolutely no pathogens were cultured from the effluent or were able to be detected, even under an electron microscope, setting a new standard in water purification.
Black Berkey purification elements are so powerful, they can remove food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. Virtually no other filtration element can duplicate this performance.
No need for expensive disposable filters. Black Berkey purification elements are re-cleanable. When the flow rate decreases simply brush the Black Berkey purification elements with a ScotchBrite pad under running water, reinstall and your system is again ready to purify water. Each durable and efficient purification element will last for up to 3,000 gallons (6,000 gallons per set of two) and provide years of efficient water purification. What's more, the unique Black Berkey purification elements are self-sterilizing.
The powerful Black Berkey purification elements also remove or reduce pathogenic cysts, parasites, harmful or unwanted chemicals such as herbicides and pesticides, VOCs, detergents, organic solvents, trihalomethanes, cloudiness, silt, sediment, nitrates, nitrites, heavy metals, foul tastes and odors, yet they leave in the healthful and beneficial minerals that your body needs.

as soon as i got my Berkey i set it up and ran a batch of water through it. it was tap water. i got a glass of water from the Berkey and a separate glass from the tap to compare the two. the first thing i noticed was the smell...the tap water had the smell of chlorine and the water from the Berkey had absolutely no smell at all. that was enough for me. the tap water tasted like it had chemicals in it and the Berkey water had no taste at all. i love it...im sold.

Most things you purchase do work. This filter goes way beyond that and I was excited when I took my first drink. It is now a perment fixture on the kitchen counter and all the water we drink and cook with now goes through it. It is big enough to keep up with all the needs of 2 adults plus the added guest for Thanksgiving.

I purchased the 3.25 system, the shipping took about a week. It was easy to assemble and was filtering water in a matter of minutes. I also like the fact that the cost is really low. With two filters it comes to like 5 cents a gallon. I also purchased the shower filter.

Room temperature water has a natural flavor to it . Call me crazy but it actually has a clean flavor. Highly recommended to anyone looking for that piece of mind.

I thought we had "filtered water" with the Brita filtration system. There is no way to describe the difference between what we had with Brita and the Berkey System. True filtered water has "NO TASTE" and is "DRY" i.e. there is no after-taste. (You don't realize there is an after-taste with water until it really is eliminated).
We are using two Berkey Black Filters and two additional filters for Fluoride removal and are thrilled with the results!
I could never understand why our small cat named Kittania preferred pond water to our Brita filtered water. Now I know because she loves the Berkey water.
Finally, Lisa, of GetBerkey.com, was more than helpful in guiding us in our selection of the best Berkey unit for our family size. She provided all of the knowledgeable information needed plus guided me in the proper accessories selection.
I recommend the Berkey system and GetBerkey.com highly!

Excellent..had no trouble putting it together, and it works like a charm..I have a r/o undercounter system so to compare their taste..the r/o has no taste (& have found out it filters out minerals that are good for us) and the berkey water has a tiny bit earthy taste -make wonderful coffee..& delivery took 1 day

If you're looking for good tasting fresh water that is easy to make, you can't go wrong with Berkey. Super easy to set up and use. Water tastes great and its nice to always have fresh water on hand. We'll never use another filter system again

I researched water purification systems and found a lot of great reviews of the Berkey systems. The longevity and purification characteristics of the filters, and the overall quality of the unit were the overriding factors for me. The unit is well made and built to last. I think that this size (Royal) will be perfect for a family of four to six. We use it every day to drink, cook with, etc. and my family loves the taste! Delivery was quick and setup was easy if you follow all of the instructions (e.g., it is important to prime the filters for a minute or more, and to makes sure you have all of the washers in the right places). I had a small leak around the water level spigot the first night so I appreciated the tip to place the unit in the kitchen sink the first night to make sure there were no leaks. I corrected the leak the next morning and it has been working great since then. I highly recommend purchasing the water level spigot as well to know how much water is in the unit at any point in time and avoid having to lift the top unit off. Great product, fast delivery… I’m very pleased so far!

I love everything about this water purifier, but there needs to be a way to see how much water has been used with out taking the upper container off. Maybe a window on the lower container showing the amount of water used would be helpful.
