Product Description

Comes with 4 British Berkefeld ceramic filters.

Optional Accessories:

The versatile British Berkefeld system is the ideal system for use at home with small or medium sized families, travel, outdoor activities or during unexpected emergencies.

This powerful system purifies both treated water and untreated raw water from such sources as remote lakes, streams, stagnant ponds and water supplies in foreign countries, where regulations may be substandard at best. Perfect for everyday use, outdoor activities and a must in hostile environments where electricity, water pressure or treated water may not be available.

The British Berkefeld system removes pathogenic bacteria, cysts and parasites and reduces harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, and VOCs without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs.

Constructed of highly polished 304 stainless steel, the system comes complete with four 7" ceramic SuperSterasyl filters. This system has a storage capacity of about 2.25 gallons (8.5 liters) and when in use it stands 19.25" in height with a diameter of 8.5". The upper chamber nests within the lower chamber for transport and stands only 13" in height.

When used with 4 ceramic filters, the system is capable of filtering about 24 to 30 Gallons per day.

This system can also be configured to work with 2 filters. Comes with 2 blocking plugs to seal up extra filter holes as needed.

SuperSterasyl Ceramic Filtration Elements

British Berkefeld systems use the age-old process of micro-porous filtration used by nature coupled with modern state-of-the-art technology and the highest quality materials to produce one of the finest water filtration systems available anywhere. At the core of the sub-micron ceramic filter is the most basic of elements: Diatomaceous Earth. This is the same substance, which artisans refine into exquisite porcelain and pottery.

The microscopic pores of the ceramic filter element make it an extremely efficient filter for the reduction of particulate matter, pathogenic bacteria and fine sediment from water. Minute particulate matter will quickly plug media style filters, but the ceramics have the added benefit of being re-cleanable and re-useable.

The Super Sterasyl element, used in British Berkefeld systems, utilizes the latest technological advances of ceramic filtration by incorporating pure silver impregnation into the porous ceramic shell to inhibit the growth of bacteria.

Furthermore, the Super Sterasyl ceramic filter elements contain activated carbon, which reduces unwanted chemical and organic compounds from the water while also improving taste.

If the filtration rate starts to slow down, the filters can be cleaned. To clean, simply scrub the filters with a scotch-brite pad under running water (as in the picture above). If using tap water, the filters will normally only need to be cleaned every 6 months.

My Berkefeld was shipped in two days. Easy instructions and great tasting water. Best product I have purchased in a long time.

  2. The best tasting and purest water. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Dec 2012

I am not afraid to drink water anymore since receiving our new
Berkefeld system. It was so easy to set up and I now am drinking lots
more water and feeling better. I have had cancer twice and hopefully
by not drinking the foul water out of the tape, I will not get it again. I even have my three dogs drinking it.
I cannot say enough about the excellent service and the speed with which
the filter arrived. Lisa was an enormous help to us and we do thank her.
She answered a lot of questions for us.

This is the second unit I have owned. It works wonderful. The first unit was used on a daily basis to filter water from rain water catchment system. This one will be used for filtering city water and for emergency water filtering.

  6. Good service 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Nov 2012

I just got the product and did not have a chance to use it yet. So I don't know yet how good it works.
One thing I was surprised is the size. It was smaller than it appeared on the picture, but I like that.
The service side, i.e. ordering and receiving the Berkey was great. Got it quickly, in perfect condition, and with good instructions.

  9. Simple and Easy to Use Water Filter 5 Star Review

First time using a gravity filter. We run our well water though it for coffee, kool-aid, tea, etc. Should work fine out in the field. Water is worth every penny spent on this!

  10. So far it looks great 5 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Jul 2012

I haven't had enough time to use it a lot or under stressful water conditions yet, but what I have used from the tap creates delicious water at alkalinity around 9.5 ! (the tap was 7.5) I don't know how that happened but I think alkaline water is supposed to be great for you (although I'm checking if THIS high is good :-). At least I never have to buy bottled water again and at best this could be a lifesaver if the SHTF in the economy as I expect.
