FLUORIDE EXPOSURE: YOUR HEALTH AND HOW TO AVOID FLUORIDE

24th Jun 2014

Should I be concerned about fluoride when so many people including many dentists and governments push fluoridation for dental health? What is the truth and who do I believe?

Robert Carton, PhD, a former risk assessment manager for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), said in an interview with the Canadian Broadcast Company’s Marketplace on November 24, 1992, “Fluoridation is the greatest case of scientific fraud of this century.” He added, “EPA has more than enough evidence to shut down fluoridation right now,” and, “Fluoridation constitutes unlawful medical research. It is banned in most of Europe.”

The FDA has never approved adding fluoride to drinking water. The FDA and EPA have been dancing around this issue for decades in an attempt to avoid jurisdiction. They can’t just ban it because of the legal liability. If the people became aware of how toxic fluoride really was and the agencies owned up to it, lawsuits would result in the parties being held liable for the damages. How many people have been given cancer, weak bones, and bad teeth? The American Dental Association, dentists, water departments, toothpaste manufacturers, and the companies who sell these toxic chemicals would all be sued out of existence.

So how can I protect myself and my family from this toxic smokestack waste product from fertilizer factories that is about 30% fluoride and contains heavy metals, kerosene, benzene, radioactive substance and other toxins?

1.Drink Water Free of Fluoride:

Number one on the list to remove fluoride from our lives is by drinking water free of fluoride. Filters that can remove fluoride are reverse osmosis (although these have been linked to heart disease, osteoporosis, and mental and emotional disturbances since they remove all the beneficial minerals our bodies must have), deionizers (which use ion-exchange resins), activated alumina fluoride filters, and fluoride filters using bone char. These filters remove 90% or more of the fluoride in your water.

Spring water usually contains low levels of fluoride – should be less than 0.2 ppm, and ideally less than 0.1 ppm. However, be aware that other contaminants can be present in any prepackaged water plus the concern for what plastic is used in packaging.

Water distillation units remove most of the fluoride. However, cost is usually greater and they do remove all the beneficial minerals our bodies need. Minerals are necessary to process and utilize vitamins, supplements and food for so many of our body’s functions. They also leave water tasting flat due to the absence of the beneficial minerals.

2.Use Non-Fluoride Toothpaste for Children:

Children are prone to swallowing more fluoride from toothpaste alone than is recommended for an entire day’s accumulation. Use non-fluoride toothpaste for children and if you must use fluoridated toothpaste, be sure to closely supervise them. Use no more than a pea sized amount. Never buy candy flavored toothpaste which increases the risk of them swallowing it and they still contain adult strength concentrations of fluoride.

3.Skip Fluoride Gel Treatments at the Dentist:

The fluoride gel procedure requires a patient to clamp down on a tray of extremely concentrated, acidic fluoride gel (12,300 ppm) for 4 minutes. Because of this acidity, our saliva glands produce a large amount of saliva during this treatment and making it very difficult to avoid swallowing the gel. Suction devices do not keep patients from swallowing large quantities of the fluoride paste. Blood tests show this result in high spikes of fluoride remains for up to 15 hours. This places patients, and especially children, at risk for stomach pain, nausea and vomiting, and increases risks for short-term kidney damage, harm to the reproductive system, and impairment of glucose metabolism.

4.Don’t Use Teflon Pans for Cooking:

Teflon-coated pans can significantly increase the fluoride content of food. Consider switching to stainless steel. The safest choices are ceramic or glass, such as Corning Ware and Pyrex, as well as ceramic enameled cookware. Aluminum – from pots, pans, and aluminum foil –is a toxic contaminant that has been linked to Alzheimer’s, rheumatism, migraines, and other problems. Cast iron leaches iron into food and too much iron rapidly accelerates aging, and can cause neurodegenerative problems like Alzheimer’s. Copper pots are also problematic. When acidic foods come into contact with copper, they leach harmful amounts of copper into the foods, causing numerous health problems as well as accelerating the again process.

5.Wines are High in Fluoride too:

Most U. S vineyards use a fluoride pesticide called cryolite. Therefore, grape juice and wine, especially white grape juice and white wine, contain elevated levels of fluoride. In 2005, the USDA reported that the average level exceeded 2 ppm for both white wine and white grape juice. Buy organic whenever possible or at least drink a European brand, as they use far less cryolite than the U. S. Also purchase organic raisins only (regular raisins contain 2.3 ppm fluoride).

6.Drink Herbal Teas:

Tea plants accumulate high levels of fluoride. Excess intake of tea is known to cause a painful bone disease called skeletal fluorosis. Some teas, like herbal teas, contain high levels of health-boosting antioxidants, which help to protect against fluoride toxicity and are good for health in general. Bottled and instant teas are made from low quality leaves that have very low levels of anti-oxidants. With these you get the risk (fluoride) without the benefits (antioxidants). Try to use young leaves like “White Tea.”

Yerba Matte is a caffeinated herbal tea from South America that contains very low levels of fluoride (<0.2 ppm). This has even lower fluoride levels than White Tea. Herbal teas do not contain high levels of fluoride.

7.Don’t Take Fluorinated Pharmaceuticals:

Most people don’t know that many pharmaceuticals are fluorinated. The worst known is Cipro. These fluorinated drugs are known to metabolize into fluoride in the body. This greatly increases exposure to fluoride. Other known fluorinated chemicals are fluorinated anesthetics (Isoflurane & Sevoflurane), Niflumic acid, Flecainide, and Voriconazole. If you are taking any of these drugs, ask for a safer alternative.

8.Avoid Processed Foods – Eat Fresh:

The more food is processed, the more fluoridated water is probably used in the processing. This includes beverages as well as processed foods. Shift as much of your food consumption to fresh foods like fruits, vegetables, grain, eggs, and milk. Processed beverages, sodas, reconstituted juices; sports drinks, etc. contribute more fluoride than even processed foods. Try to reduce your reliance on these and use filtered water. Also check your salt to see if it is fluoridated. This can also increase your fluoride intake.

Chicken fingers, chicken nuggets, etc. and other meats pulverized into a pulp form are mechanically processed which increases the amount of bone particles in the meat. Bone is the main site of fluoride accumulation in the body. Chicken meat has been found to have the highest levels of fluoride.
